FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need Insurance to Be a Patient? Is This a Form of Insurance?
No, Direct Primary Care at Fountain of Youth is not health insurance and does not replace insurance coverage. Our services are limited to the comprehensive primary care we provide within our clinic. However, we work closely with local insurance professionals who can help patients secure supplementary plans—commonly referred to as “wrap-around” or catastrophic insurance—that provide financial protection for services outside of our care. These plans often result in savings of 30–60% compared to conventional insurance offerings. Our model is specifically designed to reduce the cost and complexity of accessing high-quality primary care by eliminating traditional financial and bureaucratic barriers.
Can I Offer This to My Employees as a Stand-Alone Benefit?
Yes. For businesses with fewer than 50 full-time employees, Direct Primary Care at Fountain of Youth can be offered as a stand-alone healthcare benefit. For larger employers (50+ full-time employees), our membership can be integrated alongside a health insurance plan that complies with Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements. This approach can reduce healthcare expenses while enhancing access to quality care for your team.
Is Same-Day or Next-Day Scheduling Available?
Yes. We prioritize timely access for our members. Due to our intentionally limited panel size, Direct Primary Care at Fountain of Youth can typically accommodate same-day or next-day appointments. Members enjoy direct scheduling access with their provider via phone, messaging, or our patient portal. This accessibility reduces the need for urgent care or walk-in visits. While we do our best to avoid delays, we encourage patients to schedule in advance whenever possible to ensure the best experience.

If I Already Have Insurance, Can I Still Benefit From Membership?
Absolutely. Many patients with insurance still find that Direct Primary Care at Fountain of Youth offers greater value and convenience. Our annual membership cost is often significantly less than most insurance deductibles—and includes same-day visits, telemedicine, many lab tests, and access to generic medications. While our services do not include specialist visits or certain diagnostics we may recommend, insurance can still be used for those needs.
All patients, regardless of insurance status, pay the same membership fee and receive equal access to care. We do not exclude patients based on pre-existing conditions.
What About Labs, Medications, and Imaging?
Membership at Direct Primary Care at Fountain of Youth includes many commonly ordered lab tests and over 1,000 generic medications.
For imaging needs, we partner with local radiology providers to offer significantly discounted cash rates. If preferred, patients may still choose to use their insurance for labs, prescriptions, or imaging services. However, we advise inquiring about our discounted self-pay rates before using insurance, as they are often more economical.
Does Fountain of Youth DPC cover all my healthcare needs?
At Fountain of Youth DPC, our membership is designed to cover comprehensive primary care, and preventive services, so you receive personalized, routine care. We are completely upfront that our DPC model focuses on primary care. DPC’s goal is to avoid needing specialists’ visits, hospitalizations but it’s still important to have medical insurance for “catastrophic events”.
Will a smaller patient panel limit my access to care?
Not at all. In fact, our intentionally smaller patient panel is one of our greatest strengths. It allows Jeff St. Firmin PA-C to dedicate ample time to every patient, ensuring you always receive the personalized attention you deserve. This model means faster appointment scheduling, direct communication, and proactive care designed around your unique health needs.
Are there any hidden fees or unexpected charges?
We believe in complete transparency. Our membership fee covers virtually unlimited primary care services—office visits, telehealth consultations, and preventive care—with no hidden fees. Any additional services, such as specialized testing or imaging, will be clearly explained and quoted upfront so you always know what to expect.
How do outcomes and patient satisfaction at Fountain of Youth DPC compare with traditional healthcare models?
Patients who choose Fountain of Youth DPC report significantly higher satisfaction due to our patient-centered approach. By reducing the administrative burden and emphasizing longer, uninterrupted care, we’ve seen improved management of chronic conditions, fewer emergency room visits, and overall better health outcomes. Our practice is dedicated to providing quality, consistent care that truly makes a difference in your well-being.
